Your First Visit

On your first visit to the Clinic of Natural Medicine you will be required to fill in a consultation form where a full medical history will be taken. This will be discussed and then you will be given an examination.
For this you will be asked to remove some of your clothing and to perform a series simple of movements. Also your posture and asymmetry will be checked. The Osteopath will then use a highly developed sense of touch, called palpation, to identify the origins of your problem. This may be followed by Clinical and Orthopaedic tests if necessary.

The results of the examination will then be discussed with you, as well as the diagnosis and a treatment plan. Occasionally further tests may be required e.g. x-rays or blood tests to confirm a diagnosis.

Normally you will also be treated on your first visit, if you cannot be treated advice will be given on what to do next. Following your treatment advice a may be given regarding ice treatment, posture, ergonomics, stretching and exercise. Osteopathy is patient centred, which means the treatment is geared to you as an individual.
